Christopher Whatley
Christopher Whatley is a well known and widely published Scottish historian with a number of very highly regarded
studies including his well known and radical book The Scots and the Union. Chris has been with the University of
Dundee since 1992 and in 2006 became the Vice Principal and Head of the College of Arts and Social Sciences. Chris
has an expertise in a number of areas ranging from economic history to political and social history.
Chris will be talking November 26th* about the impact of Robert Burns, in doing this he will be addressing the
political and philosophical context to a lot of Burns works before evaluating it’s range and influence. The talk
promises to be an interesting and informative cultural event and is particular fitting in the 250th anniversary of Burns and the
Scottish Year of Homecoming.
